ALBANY AWAITS: INDOOR THREE QUARTER MIDGET RACING COMES TO NEW YORK’S CAPITAL DISTRICT; FIRST ANNUAL ALBANY INDOOR RACE SET FOR FEB. 9-10; TICKETS ON SALE AUG. 23

Race fans in New York State’s Capital District will experience the thrill of high speed auto racing in the dead of winter for the first time when Len Sammons Motorsports Productions introduces Indoor Auto Racing on February 9-10, 2018 to the Times Union Center in downtown Albany, N.Y.

The First Annual Albany Indoor Race is a brand new event for New York State, patterned after successful events run for over a decade and a half in Atlantic City, N.J., and for the past several years in Allentown, Pa., and Trenton, N.J.

The last time indoor auto racing of any sort was held in the Empire State was in 2002 at the Niagara Falls Convention Center. That venue was subsequently repurposed for a casino.

The event, as yet unbranded, is actively seeking title sponsorship.

Two New York State drivers, Erick Rudolph, hailing from Ransomville, and Andy Jankowiak from Buffalo, have been among past winners of Len Sammons Motorsports Productions Indoor Auto Racing events.

The two days of racing consist of a complete program of racing for TQ Midgets both nights.

The schedule calls for racing to start at 7:30 pm on Friday and 7:00 pm on Saturday. TQ Midgets will run a complete program with features both days. Slingshots will be scheduled for both nights.

The Albany race is the finale of the Len Sammons Motorsports Productions Indoor Auto Racing season and will be the scene of the crowning of the 2017-2018 Series champion.

For choice tickets, contact the Times Union Center Box Office, charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000, or visit online at ticketmaster.com.
