Only 19 cars were entered - which is often a sign of high scores. This was especially true here as all 50 of our picks scored points. (This includes those of you that ended up having the alternate be scored with the late Emerling withdrawal).
Further - 8 of the 10 of us got pole points.
This was the highest average of the season (by a full 2 points). The lowest score would have been the highest in 4 races this year.
Bobgabes took the high score for the week AND got 5 points for correctly picking the pole. This took the lead back to 11 points. The top 5 order shifted some, but that isn't all that relevant at this juncture as 2nd through 5th are separated by 3 points. RBH lost a wee bit of ground to the top 5 and likely can't lose any more if wants to keep pace. Another race this Saturday - will we see any ROC interlopers...?
I chortled when I saw the entry list for Oswego. I sensed there would be the potential for some disparate picks, and I was right.
This bore itself out in the results. It was the 2nd highest standard deviation of the year. We had just as many folks under 30 as we did above 40.
Our previous top 2 (Bobgabes and Mod11Racer) both scored their lowest of the season to date. This dropped Mod11 to 4th place, with the top 4 being separated by 12 points.
Of note as well is that 6 people scored max pole points by picking the 60. Bobgabes got 3 and JustWinBaby got 0. This is something to watch as we come down the stretch (five of the ten of us actually have within 2 points (or better) of our drop just from pole points)
Riverhead always has the potential to “upset” some things in the standings. For the most part this week was chalk, which resulted in some high scores. 6 of us got above 45 – and was the third highest average score for the season.
Scott took high score for the 2nd week in a row. That catapulted him right into the mix for third place overall. There are 5 players within 6 points. Unfortunately one of those is JustWinBaby who had a tough week and plummeted to 5th in the standings.
With 2 races to go it is all but a 2 horse race. Bobgabes and Stevie Goodyear are separated by 5 points – and then have an 11 point lead on the next contenders. Bob and Stevie scored the same this week, but Stevie gained 5 points by picking the 51 to get the pole. Interestingly they also have the same score being dropped (29).
See y’all in a few weeks when Thompson will be posted.
Well this was a peculiar week.
- We had one of our members forget to send in picks.
- The Saturday practice caught 2 people off guard and resulted in 10 point deductions
- One member submitted 2 sets of picks
- Only one member scored pole points – but then proceeded to score his lowest point total of the season
- Oh, and the race results were peculiar with some heavy hitters barely scoring points, to the point that SEVEN of us used this race as our drop week. If the 2 penalties were removed the race becomes the 2nd lowest scoring average for the season.
Because of the above, the results are still being audited by the governing committee. Here are the current standings.
As it currently stands looks like will be a 2 horse race going in to Martinsville.
