    We're at 9 and counting

Just want everyone to remember, and who doesn't, the great Ted "Papa Smurf" Zelezny in the #9 Blunderbust-one of the greatest thrills for me was when he won his one and only heat race-the place went wild.

PS: also remember the night when he got tanked into the wall big time and Bob Finan ran out to make sure he was ok. Bob came back laughing with the report that all Papa Smurf wanted was for someone to re-light his cigarette-that was the character he was.

Someone who had a little more success than Papa Smurf driving a #9 blunderbust, Henry Cataldo. Also Troy Ferdinando in the #9 SPT, and wasn't 9 one of Al Ermmarino's modified #s?

9A was indeed one of Al Ermmarino's numbers. The number relates to a Modified great in the past though. I'm waiting for one of the older folks to bring that guy up.

Well let's see, I know that Jr Ambrose ran the 9A for just a bit. Think it was for Nippe's Nursery. And also remember Bob Holmberg in that ride as well.
Awww geez, and how can I forget the Great George Tet in the #9 and George Wagner in the famous X-9 and the 9 over the V (something like that).

Sorry guys didn't mean to steal them all, but 9 has been a pretty busy number.

Sal Correndengo driving the 009 in the eights at Islip. Who, I might add, just recently had gall bladder surgery and is doing well.
