    tires

just curious... in tech after a race, how do they determine your tire width, do the figure each size is a certain width, or do they break out a ruler? im asking because im having problems finding 6" wide tires to run. i cant currently afford to buy new tires, so out of 5 used 185/60's, 2 are 5 and 3/4", 1 is 6", and 2 are 6 and 1/2". i dont want to get disqualified over something stupid, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Run the 2 that are 5 3/4" and the one that is 6" and buy one more that is 6" or less and bring your ruler with you to the tire shop. Nothing worse than getting DQ'd after a good run.

If you are shopping at a used tire shop, see if he will give you something for the tires you cannot use. When I bought and sold tires, I could usually get $5 or $10 for the used tires I sold. Granted it's not a fortune, and not what you probably paid for them, it's still better than nothing.
