Less Demo cars than Super Pro Trucks????

It was sad to see so few cars in the demo.
I mean when you have less cars then the Super Pro Trucks have...uh.. trucks... well that is not good. Was there a reason for such a low turn-out?

And some of those cars looked like they had already been demo'ed..professionally at a scrapyard.. Whiplash's car was knocked out by a gust of wind... it was not the way to end a really good night of racing.

One of the reasons is that good cars are almost nonexistant on LI anymore. Guys,[and girls] would rather take out good used cars than try to build a new one.
Another thing is that no-one is experimenting with the newer cars now. The mid to late 80's Fords and Mercs are the wave of the future. Now is the time to start trying things out to see what would and wouldn't work.
And last, I think that the cost is another consideration. In today's economy, the average demo car costs about $200.00-$400.00.[That's not the Good cars like the Chryslers and Chevy roundback wagons, which can cost up to $1500.00] People are struggling to meet everyday needs.
It'll get better.
One idea is to have a demo with 1985 or newer cars and see what happens. Again, this is only an idea.

Watching the police car demo was crazy. They had everything from a full size Crown Victoria wagon to an Escort wagon. I didn't think it looked safe, but the last 3 cars were Whiplash in a fwd Century, a fwd Grand Prix, and an early 80's rwd Le Sabre, with the Grand Prix winning. If they let the smaller cars in all the demos, maybe that would help.

Gravel hit it on the head, there are no more good cars on Long Island. You can't spend $500 on a car to win $450, plus all the money it takes to set it up. The most cost effective demo right now is the 4 cyl demo. You can still get 4 cyl cars for next to nothing and it only takes 5-6 hours to set up. Riverhead could even go with late 80's 6 cyl demos, too, those cars are a dime a dozen still and only take a bit longer to set up. I wish Riverhead had more of these kind of demos. I think it would attract new drivers and the car counts would be higher.

I remember as a teenager going to Islip for one of the World Championship demo's

I think there were about 200 cars there.

Now that was a demo.

Just like everything else with Riverhead, they have little incentive to change.

Every Demo night no matter how many cars, the place is full they don't pay much money and they get to raise the admission at the front gate. Why change anything.

I think they should have more of all kinds of demos, even the big 8 cyl demo. I respect Whips and everybodys opinion, but I think if you are in demos to make money, it won't work. As for the different size cars in the police demo, all they need is the wrong person in the wrong size car and it could get dangerous.
