Exactly the thinking... It's original intent is a rookie class, thus in a field of rookies, there shouldn't be a rookie of the year (just a champion of rookies). In fact, until recently, if you raced in the Blunderbusts you couldn't race other divisions. However, over the years its progressed at a level that many enjoy competiting in for many years. Maybe it's time for a Rookie of the Year, but it's ultimately up to the track. Hopefully you understand their thinking.

If there was a rookie of the year, who are the eligible drivers?
Looking forward to the rest of my life.

I agree... If I had to choose, Tim Gerzbeck has been outstanding right out of the box... But the season isn't over with yet!

The sad part Vicki, is that racers don't like racing just for trophies. That's the true issue. Just as an aside.

The real issue is that the track's perception of the Blunderbusts. An entry-level division of "rookies" should not have a Rookie of the Year, as that's the Champion. Yes, I know that it's become a place for people just to enjoy and relax and have fun racing for many years, but that is the true nature of any entry-level division, and the thought process behind the lack of any "Rookie of the Year."

It's an unfortunate truth, absolutely. Maybe they should have (if they don't already that I haven't heard of) a "most improved " award for the division or at least something to give the drivers some recognition, almost as if they would be saying, "we know you're here and keep up the good work". Sometimes a little means a lot.

That "most improved driver" award is a pretty good idea and yeah, a little does mean a lot sometimes. In this case, it probably is one of those times.

Ed Stein approached me and Barbara Cromarty back in 2001 or 2002. He had just wrecked his Charger or Late Model, and wanted to go back BB racing. I advised him about the rule. Then Chris Busick had a similar problem. After speaking with Barbara & Jim, the change was made.

AA, sorry, I may be old and have a bad heart, but I don't recall talking to you about the change. I could be wrong...
